Welcome to the home page of our website. I guess you will either be a current member looking for information, a prospective member doing a bit of research or, simply an interested visitor. Whoever you are, I do hope the website provides an easy way for you to find what you are looking for. Please explore, I am sure you will find it interesting.*

Most of our members find our direct emails are more than adequate for keeping up to-date and hence do not visit the site frequently. However, for those members who are interested we have now enhanced the site to include copies of Committee Meeting minutes so you can be fully informed as to the Society’s direction. Access is restricted to members only and does require a password.

OGC is simply a very well run Golf Society whose original Objective was to “create fellowship amongst the Captains and Past Captains of Golf Clubs in Oxfordshire”. Our Founder Members must be proud - it will be our 50th Anniversary next year and we now have 20 affiliated Oxfordshire Golf Clubs and over 300 members, We not only have a great camaraderie amongst our members, we have also created long lasting friendships with the Past Captains of the 14 other Counties that we compete against. These annual inter County matches (four ball match play), form the backbone of our golfing calendar and we even have annual ‘mini tours’ to Cornwall and Devon/Dorset. All the matches are keenly fought but with true sportsmanship and much banter over the dinner.
Our Match Secretary works hard to ensure everyone who wants to play does get a game so make sure you reply to his emails.
In addition to these inter-County matches we, along with nine other Counties compete in two annual events “the Four Counties” and the “Jubilee Cup” - please see the “History” tab for more details.
The golfing year includes 4 internal tournaments - the Spring Meeting, President’s Day, Captain’s Day and Autumn Meeting. Finally we have my informal Captain’s Tour which is in Dartmouth this year, hope you can make it, please look out for the emails.
It is my privilege and honour to be this year’s Captain and I will do my upmost to maintain the ethics and standards of the OGC. I am looking forward to playing golf and socialising with old and new friends in the year to come - oh, and to winning a few matches as well!
